How to make a Match Rocket

video
How to make a Match Rocket
~~~
A match rocket is a fun and inexpensive toy that is made out of:
-Aluminum foil
-Match
-Paper Clip
-Pin (for stand)
A match rocket once placed on the stand and heated with a lighter will fly through the air using the exact same principles as a jet engine, in fact, a match rocket is a jet engine. The match head contained within the aluminum foil casing gets very hot and ignites (the match head contains both the propellant/fuel and a solid oxidizer, thus it will ignite with just heat and no exposure to gaseous oxygen). Once ignited, it turns into gases at very high temperatures. These gases at very high temperatures expand rapidly and there is now pressure within the rocket (aluminum foil). This pressure or buildup of energy is released by pushing against the stand (pin) in one direction, while propelling the match rocket through the air (about 20cm if you're good) in the opposite direction.
Two different kinds of match rockets, I only showed you how to make the kind on the right. Remember, this is only a toy, please do not go shooting the insects.
I will hopefully, in the future post another video of a match rocket actually flying through the air, I don't know why I didn't make one.
