Ryerson University or University of Toronto ?

Engineering at Ryerson University or University of Toronto?

I am just going to briefly list a few points with regards to engineering at Ryerson University and UofT, this is intended for graduating highschool students who are planning to go onto first-year engineering.

-Ryerson University is known to offer science and engineering courses at a more practical level.
-Engineering and science courses at the University of Toronto is more theoretical, and a greater portion of the work is done from textbooks.
-The pay for engineers coming out of Ryerson University and the University of Toronto is about the same. I checked the pay for co-op students at U of T's official website, and then did the same on Ryerson's website, and the pay was within the same range.
-Ryerson University has a mandatory co-op program for chemical engineering (only), where all chemical engineering students will be placed into the workplace to work for 16-20month with pay.
-U of T does not have a mandatory co-op program. All of the co-op programs at UofT must be applied to. In order to apply for co-op you must have a certain GPA standing (i.e. good marks).
-Both Ryerson and UofT require you to pay a few hundred dollars just to go through the co-op placement process.

Cooperative Education

Co-op gives students an opportunity to apply some of their engineering knowledge before graduating from university. Employers look favourably upon hiring students who have completed a coop program or internship because they have real work experience. Not all co-op students will actually do work pertaining to their specific field of engineering, however, just by them being in an engineering environment they can learn more about what the job necessitates. Co-op also gives students an opportunity to become familiarized and known to engineering companies, who may favour hiring them full-time upon the student's graduation.

Involvement in a co-op program allows students to build up a useful network of contacts that can be used to help land them a job in the future.
